Our customers Lynn and Mark run a busy dairy farm near Wadebridge in Cornwall. They recently moved from their traditional farmhouse to a newly built home, which featured a Carpenter oak-framed room and conservatory with high ceilings and magnificent views across the countryside.

This is the second kitchen we’ve designed for Lynn and Mark. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them again and understand their preferences, cooking habits, and practical needs. This familiarity made the process relaxed and enjoyable, with a fair amount of banter and, most importantly, a high level of trust.

The new kitchen had to blend harmoniously with the room and not overpower the oak details. It also had to be practical enough to cope with the daily farming demands while still looking elegant.

Shaker in style, the surrounding cabinetry is painted in Little Greene Slaked Lime Deep 10% and has a host of storage. To complement the room’s height, we created a feature run of tall cabinetry at one end of the kitchen. We integrated a large Fisher Paykel fridge freezer, Miele appliances, and a Treyone pantry fitted with oak shelving and drawers.

The large central Island unit was a must for this busy home. It’s an excellent place for both work and home social gatherings. In contrast to the other cabinetry, we used Farrow & Ball Hague Blue, which also pairs beautifully with the Marine Blue Everhot range.

The worktops feature a gorgeous and subtle Natural Taj Mahal polished Quartzite, which benefits from a Sensa seal. This seal is perfect for light, porous worktops and eliminates staining. We used Armac Martin chocolate Bronzed Edgebaston handles and draw pulls. Lynn and Mark wanted something that matched the kitchen’s style and had a reassuringly solid feel.
